Girls on Film II

by The Madame

Attention all TKS photographers: ‘Girls on Film’ II will be taking place Tuesday, August 24th.

Our first Session was an experiment, which proved successful. We were happy host such an event, and response from photographers inspired us to make this a regular{ish} occurrence. There were things we learned from GoF I, and changes are forthcoming. Firstly, we’re starting with the venue:

We have 2 venues from which you can choose, so we’re putting it up to a vote.

Venue A is the light and airy Gladstone Gallery on the second floor of the Gladstone Hotel:

Gladstone Gallery, south end

Gladstone Gallery, north end

This is a large open space with heritage features like crown moulding, curved arches, and a south facing stone balcony. It’s a T-shaped space with smaller empty gallery rooms and a fairly interesting washroom with a clawfoot tub.

Located at 1214 Queen Street west.

Venue B is the rich & lavish Foundation Room, a small nightclub inspired by Marrakesh:

Foundation Room lounge

Foundation Room ladies' room

Foundation Room lounge

A more intimate venue that is already a designed set with built-in ambience.

Located at 19 Church Street.

Let us know which venue you prefer by posting in the Comments Section below this post. If you don’t vote, we’ll choose for you, so take 15 seconds to make your voice heard! Please vote by August 10th.

Girls on Film II will be sign-up only so we can ensure minimum attendance to cover TKS costs. More details to come within the week.

yay!

Congrats

by The Madame

TKS would like to congratulate all artists that participated in SneakPeek. Comments like “TKS has the highest calibre of artists in any of the major drawing groups around town” make us all warm & fuzzy inside. We look forward to the next exhibition.

For those that couldn’t make the show, here’s a chance to see how your pieces looked on our walls…

Two Mornings After The Night Before: SneakPeek Gala

by The Madame

Wow. Saturday night’s Opening Reception for SneakPeek was epic.

I’d like to extend an enormous thanks to all that ventured to The Gladstone. Cocktails, treats, dirty art and amazing people made for one fantastic opening party. A packed house the whole night, we were certainly the place to be. We met a tonne of interesting people, and should expect a slew of new faces for Season II. Congratulations to all artists, and to those with sold pieces! The Show’s success means it will be an annual event.

SneakPeek was the perfect climax to a year’s worth of debaucherous drawing, slick rope-rigging, and great times with new friends. This Madame is enormously proud of all her performers and artists, and I do believe The Keyhole Sessions has made its mark on the Toronto Arts Scene. We look forward to Season II, and can’t wait to see you all again.

Stay tuned to this site for interesting tidbits throughout the summer. And send us word of what you’re doing to fill the Tuesday night void.

Peruse the gallery below of shots from the night, and please send us any to add.

See you all soon.

SneakPeek: TKS’ first artist exhibition, July 8 – 13

by The Madame

by Stefan Valent

Finally. After what will be 55 Keyhole Sessions, we would like to thank all the amazing people that have sketched and photographed in our studio since May of 2009. TKS will be holding our first show, SneakPeek, at The Gladstone ArtBar.

We have witnessed many fine talents during the last year, and feel the intense need to share it. So we invite you to submit your favourite work that was created {or at least started} at a Keyhole Session in order to spread the debaucherous love to the general public. No, you needn’t be a seasoned or pro artiste to submit: you just need the passion for creativity that has been the standard requirement from day 1 at TKS.

Opening Reception on Saturday, July 10th. Show runs until the 13th.

Full details in the Submission Guidelines. Stay tuned to this blog for any updates.

Come see what divine things we got up to this past year.
