AboveGround is at 74 McCaul Street.

We present the Sex+ Film Festival

by The Madame

Something wicked this way comes…

What better way to warm your cockles on a dreary March Sunday {this Madame detests March} than with a film laced with sex?

We figured we’d brighten this bleak month by presenting you with Sex+, our very first film festival. Sex+ is most often read as ‘Sex Positive’, a now popular term describing open & healthy sexuality. TKS will add to the term, coupling it with movies to match certain sexual themes using the ‘Sex plus’ idea. We’ll be bringing you:

Sex+POWER= Secretary
Sex+ART= Sirens
Sex+SEX= Diary of a Nymphomaniac
Sex+MUSIC= 9 Songs

So come on out for four nights of debaucherous fun with treats, great people and movies to warm even the coldest of souls.

Every Sunday night in March
The Royal Cinema, 608 College Street.
7pm, $12

And if you’re lucky, your ticket will win you a prize from one of our SweetScreen Sponsors.

See you soon!

The Morning After The Night Before: Look Hear! 01|25|11

by The Madame

Well, we made our mark in the east end of Toronto. Look Hear! welcomed TKS to the Distillery District’s Stirling Room for a night of dirty beats, rope and art.

A lively night in the lounge upstairs, we did what we do best. TKS HeadRigger JP Robichaud demonstrated his mad talents in Kinbaku on the beautiful Harlot Fever and Nymph Suicide. Down below, the Catacombs hosted an intimate exhibit of 16 pieces of debaucherous art, all created at our life-drawing and photography Sessions.

Massive props to Look Hear! organizer, Morgan Booth. She did us proud by presenting TKS as we expect: to great people all willing to experience something new. Also special thanks to The London Street Wankers for laying down the sweet soundtrack; and to Stirling Room for being gracious hosts. And last, but not least, to our TKS artists for helping support the marriage of lust+art in this obviously hungry city.

Thanks, all.

Photos to follow soon…

The Morning After the Night Before: DecemberDrought

by The Madame

Big hugs to D. Sample for the loveliest of treats: a book of debaucherous window dressings and wine to enjoy while reading it.

Huge thanks to all that came out to Naco last night for one last TKS hurrah. It’s an amazing thing to see people come together on a common bond and discover what makes them all individuals.

We’ve truly enjoyed the first half of Season 2, and look forward to all that’s happening in 2011. Mark your calendars for January 11th, our first monthly extravaganza.

We wish you all the merriest and safest of holidays, and we hope that you experience lovely delights along the way.

See you next year. {if we encounter saucy tidbits before then, you’ll be the first to know}.

Call for Submissions

by The Madame

TKS is teaming up with Look Hear, “a music and arts event to promote the talents, creativity and work of local artists and musicians”. Held monthly in the Stirling Room in the Distillery District, Look Hear spins beats in the lounge upstairs, while an artist exhibition & sale takes place in the Catacombs, below ground. For one night only, it’s a chance to show off your work in a pretty sweet venue.

On January 25th, The Keyhole Sessions will be presented by Look Hear’s first event of 2011. By then you’ll be wanting something to keep you warm, so head out to the Distillery for an evening of creative, erotic energy.

Fifteen pieces will be selected for this event. All final selections must be mounted or framed as they will be displayed on easels. Submission fee is only $10, which makes it a great opportunity to get your work seen by new patrons.

Deadline for submissions is January 7th, giving you plenty of time to sort through your pieces to pick your favourites. Submit up to 5 pieces, the fee stays the same. Maximum of one piece will be selected from each artist. We’re accepting both drawings and photography from any Keyhole Session.

So start sifting through your piles of work and submit. We wanna see them!
