The Morning After The Night Before: The Tempest 07|12|11

Tuesday’s storm never materialized over Toronto, but we created our own electricity last night at The Great Hall with our tribute to The Tempest. Jacki warmed up our stage as Prospero, appearing from her ship’s wreckage and taking command of the island.
Bella Fox as the lizard-like Caliban and Sandra Kie as Ariel kicked off Act II {although the hands-above-head pose proved a tad too much for Ariel. She’s fine and we’ll see her again soon}, to be unexpectedly and magically enslaved by Prospero for her own evil motives.
Thanks to all the came out; ’twas lovely to see so many new faces mixed in with our veteran artists, and thanks to all who helped strike. We hope you all had icy lemonade in your immediate futures.

A belated birthday gift from TKS lovely, Bella Fox. This encompasses so much of how I feel about TKS and about myself {I can’t wait to look back on this when I’m 80}.

This was to be a birthday gift for Sonya who runs The Keyhole Sessions [link] (NSFW). But it’s been over three weeks since her birthday and I only just recently finished it. I wish to blame my tardiness on my red#59 marker drying up halfway through colouring the border.
Forgive the crappy scan; I like to draw on paper larger than my scanner, and have never been much good at stitching the pieces together.
Things I love about Sonya that I took care to try and capture in this drawing include her hair, her tattoos and her adorable little tummy.

Last night The Great Hall was all aflutter with charcoal streaking and brushes flying. In the Conversation Room, our stage was graced by Bella Fox, wrapped in her kimono like a tight Japanese present. Later joined by the lavishly roped-up jay.kay, we also welcomed the curious from Art Battle, being held in the Main Hall. It’s always a pleasure to introduce TKS to the new and uninitiated.
Thanks to all that came out. Yet again we saw incredible pieces being crafted, so please send them our way to be added to our Gallery. You can email us or use our new upload form. You can also post to our Facebook Wall.
Don’t forget next week is Unwrapped: The Great Holiday Blowout. The last Session of 2010, this will be a special 3-hour event in the Main Hall. So bring your best supplies, grab a drink from the bar and draw the last debaucherous hurrah for the year.

Teasing artists with a blue scarf, Bella Fox kicked off TKS 53 with just the right mix of sweetness and attitude. Later joined by Mute Winter, the two ladies managed to tie themselves up in leather, chains and rope, all making for some very lovely sketches.
Nice to see a packed house with so many new faces. We hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did, and that we see you again soon.
