We’re on RocketHub!

by The Madame

So Nuit Blanche is fast approaching, and it’s our biggest event of the year. This will be our third rogue event, participating under Les Rues des Refusés, which is the alternative guide for unofficial Nuit Blanche events.

Our contribution is to set up a 6 hour drawing Session, with multiple models rotating at 15 minute intervals throughout the evening. It’s hella fun and boy, did we {and about 3000 others} have a blast last year at Les Oiseaux. This year, we’re climbing Mt. Olympus where our models will each be representing a Greek Goddess, all under the watchful eye of mighty Zeus.

In the spirit of Nuit Blanche, our event is free to the public, but sadly it’s not free to produce. Venue and equipment rentals, styling, costuming, set design and a bunch of other costs are incurred and all paid for out of this Madame’s pocket. We’re grateful at all the talent that is donated for the evening, but the hard costs add up. So this year we’ve set up a RocketHub project in order to crowdfund the event. Anyone can fuel our project for any dollar amount, but the cool thing is that if you hit certain fund levels, you get rewarded. Yay! From photographs and drawings to Session admissions to the grand reward of 2 hours of dedicated Kinbaku instruction from none other that TKS HeadRigger, JP Robichaud. How awesome is that?

So check out all the deets at our RocketHub home and help fuel some more sexy for Toronto.

Thanks to all artists that came out to Girls.Grease.Rope. Here is a sample of the amazing art they created that night.

Hottest motherfuckers on the whole damn block

Hottest motherfuckers on the whole damn block

ok, so it’s not quite morning, but when you’ve been up for an insane amount of hours, be happy I got this out at all today.

Well, it’s finally over. After months of planning and a crazy week setting up, Girls.Grease.Rope. has come and gone. Thankfully, it was a smashing success

From the moment our first model got cozy on the Triumph in the window, and to the first model stepping on stage, the night progressed through a series of amazing poses, all in FightClub chic, decorated in spectacular rope.

I’d like to thank all our models:

Bella Fox
Jennifer Rose
Mara S.
Miss S.
Pandora La Glamme
Skellington
Susie Caboose

Styled in black&blue make-up, they lit up the stage like nobody’s business, in creative poses befitting of The Keyhole Sessions. Nothing will describe them better than the photos. Check ’em out in our TMATNB Photos Category.

Topping it all off were the insane skills of our rope riggers, JP Robichaud and LotusLily, whose impromptu and creative ties added something beautiful and unexpected.

We knew we had a hot ticket on our hands by the crowds our window was drawing {How can you not want to enter a room where a beautiful woman or two is beckoning you from atop a Triumph motorbike?}. When the police entered, I was nervous until our doorman said it was because he was calling his fellow cops to come and see what all our fuss was about. Nice.

Our room filled very quickly with both artists {yes, everyone that sat to draw is considered an artist in our book}, and onlookers, all amazed at what they witnessed on stage. The drawings that lined our back wall by the end of the night was evidence of a good time had. There’s some pretty sweet talent among our citizens.

It was great to see many of our regular artists come out as well. We hope all that came out had as good a time as we did. Maybe we’ll do it all again next year {provided we’ve slept enough by then}.

I’d also like to shout-out to many peeps that helped our night become the success it was:

Jim Bawks. Without his Triumph in the window, there would have been no pedestal for our lovely models. And no, a milk crate is not the same. And to Alison Schofield. You kept our much-needed bevvies cool.

Paul Potvin at Location Equipment Supply. Your heat lamp kept those aformentioned models nice and toasty atop that chrome machine. Heat begets heat.

Jeff Goldberg at Sonic Events. Your sound system made our beats sound amazing, and helped create the awesome vibe.

Mark Chong. Supplying us with that crazy cool drawing for our banners. A perfect greeting to all visitors.

Michael, Kelly, & Laird at Lower Ossington Theatre. Thanks for opening your doors super late for us. We couldn’t have had it at any other location. We wouldn’t want to.

Stu Campbell, John Latimer, & Bubba. Stu for setting us up with John and Bubba, our awesome muscle. You kept us safe from drunken fools. And for all three for staying super late to help strike and cart heavy shit.

ADDEccentric. For taking pics throughout the night and being enthusiastic. We can’t wait to see those shots!

Definitely not least, Aaron Barnett. Without your endless support, The Keyhole Sessions would not exist. All your help leading up to Girls.Grease.Rope. despite my crankiness help me hold onto sanity.

Thanks to everyone that set foot in The Keyhole Studio. When I took a stroll up the street to see other events, I realized we really were “the hottest motherfuckers on the whole damn block”.

Well the time is almost upon us for our special Keyhole Sessions event, Girls.Grease.Rope.

The last week has seen a multitude of preparations, much hair ripped out, and many lovely ladies spoken to.

Come on out for a night of debaucherous drawing as we have our amazing Keyhole models, veteran and newbie, grace our stage in greasy garage chic.

Joining us on our stage will be:

Bella Fox
Jennifer Rose
Mara S.
Miss S.
Pandora La Glamme
Skellington
Susie Caboose

All decorated in lovely shibari rope by Keyhole Riggers JP Robichaud and LotusLily.

It’s been wonderful to have received some great press in the local print and online media. EYE Weekly is describing our event as one of the few “non-Nuit Blanche Nuit Blanche” events to go to on Saturday. We are officially part of Les Rues des Refusés, the listing of renegade artists that are not part of ScotiaBank Nuit Blanche proper.

Whether its for a few minutes or a few hours, come and see what all the fuss is about.

Looking forward to seeing you all!

Nuit Blanche Special Event: Girls.Grease.Rope.

The time is almost upon us. On October 3rd, art lovers will descend on the downtown streets of Toronto for Nuit Blanche, the “free, all-night contemporary art thing”. From sundown to sunup, experience a nightlife filled with art exhibits, installations, music, and thousands of people looking for an art fix.

As a tribute to this dark fête, The Keyhole Sessions is holding a special late-night drawing session. From 8pm til 2am, come draw eight of our Keyhole models, as they grace the stage in greasy garage chic. Inspired by a Suicide Girls/Fight Club photoshoot and accentuated by our amazing Shibari rope-riggers, it will be a night of drawing you won’t forget.

We will be supplying basic paper and pencils. Come draw for a few minutes or a few hours; you’ll be able to step in and out as you please.

We’ll be in a street level studio at Lower Ossington Theatre, 100 Ossington Avenue. This is in Zone C of the Nuit Blanche map. You’ll know us by the motorbike in the window, atop which will be a lovely tied model or two.

See you soon!

more news about our Nuit Blanche event

by The Madame

It is with pouty lips that I announce we are no longer having a Gallery Show to accompany our Nuit Blanche debauchery event. It was our original intention to display framed/mounted artist works along the Theatre’s exhibition wall, but now that we are located in a different studio for the evening of the 3rd, we will not have access to the upstairs level where the wall is located.

But do not fear. We will be taping up all the drawings that will occur on that evening on the Studio wall; a real-time display of the models as they pose, so not a complete loss. We are supplying newsprint and pencils/charcoal for the night.

For those who were interested in exhibiting their Keyhole art, we are considering an end-of-year show. So have patience, my little ones. All is not lost…

The Keyhole Sessions shift gears toward Nuit Blanche

September is upon us. That means we’ve got only about a month before thousands of people descend on our dark streets for the “free, all-night contemporary art thing“. And The Keyhole Sessions is celebrating by having our own {un}official Nuit Blanche late-night, saucy drawing session.

Inspired by the Suicide Girls Fight Club photo shoot, our Session will be industrial chic. Think many lovely models in jeans and grease. Throw in the talents of our amazing rope riggers, and you’ve got the making of an incredibly fun night. Come to draw for a few minutes, or for a few hours. The choice is yours during this special open event. More deets to come. Stay tuned…

Oh yeah, we’ve also got our hands on a Triumph motorbike, to which we’ll be tying our lovely models in the studio window. ooh la la.
